AR70/223 Sport semi-automatic rifle manufactured by Beretta for commercial sales. The left side of the upper assembly bears stampings stipulating the manufacturer information, model, and serial number, with the right side of the receiver being stamped "Mod. 70 / SPORT" over a Bern Corporation import stamp. Features include a matte black enamel finish, 17 - 7/8" barrel, post front sight, flip-up rear aperture sight, flip up front & rear grenade sights, integral scope mounts on the receiver, bipod, paddle magazine release lever, ribbed black polymer forend and pistol grip, as well as a well as a side-folding buttstock. Matching numbers are present on the left side of the upper and lower assemblies. CONDITION: Metal components retain virtually all of their original factory applied black enamel finish, exhibiting few and minor superficial marks from handling and storage overall. Mirror bore, exhibiting well defined lands and grooves throughout. Black polymer furniture is excellent, exhibiting few minor marks from handling and storage overall. Due to the huge commercial success of Colt's AR-15, few examples of Beretta's AR70 rifles were imported into the United States, largely leading to its desirability among collectors today. MLW
