Thomas & Storrs is not listed in Stockel, but based on the configuration, it is circa the last quarter of the 18th century. Octagonal to round barrel with a wide wedding ring at girle, and a raised reinforcing ring just behind the bell, which flares out to approximately 1 - 5/16". Snap bayonet mounted to top of barrel. Birmingham proofs offset on octagonal section of barrel, BPC and V Birmingham proofs, and a washed out maker's mark. Stepped lock with waterproof bridled pan, swan neck cock, with simple engraving and centrally located "THOMAS / & / STORRS". Ramrod of appropriate length retained by single ferrule and feeds into a reinforced mouth. Simple brass trigger guard with pineapple finial, engraved with a single floral spray in center. Wrist is checkered in point pattern and has a brass shield. Brass buttplate with florals at heel. CONDITION: Overall good. Barrel has a deep untouched mustard patina, while metal is mostly a smooth chocolate brown with some flashes of dove grey. Cock has been repaired at neck. Wood is good with numerous bumps and bruises, and a few chips; crack behind lockplate. Mechanically fine, bore is very good. EMW
