This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 7/12/2022
While these pistols have some subtle aesthetic differences that point to their manufacture as two separate pistols, their design and embellishment betray an intentional marriage as a pair. Both pieces have cast brass overstraps decorated with geometrics and wire, with false ramrods. Both stocks are inlaid with German silver wire and pommel on pistol B appears to be potmetal while (A) is made of German silver. Both pistols have significant areas of gilding still visible (mostly on barrel) and have chiseled florals over the breech, albeit of slightly different designs, and an illegible poincon on (A). Lock (A) with chiseled floral scroll en suite, bridled pan, and reinforced cock; lock B is plain with a more elaborate reinforced cock in a floral style with bridled pan. Sideplates with floral and geometrics. Pommels with geometrics and florals of 2 slightly different designs. CONDITION: Metal is essentially a smooth chocolate patina throughout, with traces of gilding throughout and significant areas of gilding visible on barrels, particularly on breeches and tangs. German silver wire is lifting is several areas; exercise caution to avoid further damage. Stocks have indentations and chips, with pistol (A) pulling away from pommel. Mechanics are sticky but operational, bores are very good; overstrap extends slightly beyond bore of pistol (A). EMW
