M1911 Luger manufactured by DWM under contract for Bulgaria. This variation was issued within the Bulgarian Army for all ranks requiring a pistol, not just officers or as private purchase weapons, as was done with the previous contracts. This example bears the intertwined "DWM" monogram over the chamber, with the Bulgarian rampant lion proof stamp on the right side of the receiver. Forward toggle link bears the Bulgarian lion within a shield crest, with the safety and extractor bearing proper Cyrillic markings. Major metal components are blued, with some smaller components being strawed and nitre blued. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered walnut grips and retains its original hinged lanyard loop on the rear grip strap. Matching numbers are present on the frame, locking bolt, sideplate, trigger, safety lever and bar, receiver, trigger bar, barrel, breechblock, and toggles. Grips are unnumbered. CONDITION: Metal components retain large amounts of their arsenal reapplied blue finish, exhibiting areas of thinning and wear overall showing through to a pleasant grey-brown patina, as well as some scattered areas of inactive oxidation. Strawed components are fine as reheated, exhibiting a few small spots of oxidation beneath the finish. Grips show some smoothing to the checkering and a few nicks to the diamonds but are otherwise fine. A fine example of a Bulgarian M1911 Luger produced under contract by DWM. MLW
