This is an early example of a 19th century singing bird box automata, most likely from Germany. Clockwork operation, flip the switch and the bird appears, chirping and flapping its wings, entertains for about 15 seconds and disappears back into the box. Housed in a beautiful cherub encrusted case with bird figural switch. Works well, but with a light clicking and could benefit from being serviced.
Condition: (Very Good).
Item Dimensions: 1 - 3/4" x 4" x 2 - 1/4".
