Western Pennsylvania percussion Kentucky rifle made by John Fleeger of Allegheny, Pennsylvania, who worked from 1831 to 1882. 41 -1/2" rifled octagon .32 caliber barrel signed in script "J. FLEEGER" with rifle sights. Percussion lock marked J.D. LOOMIS & Co. controlled by double set triggers. Curly maple fullstock with brass hardware including a nicely engraved 4-piece Western Pennsylvania keyhole finial patchbox with 5 piercings and Fleeger's fern pattern design on lid. Engraved brass sideplate and toeplate. Stock has channel carving along toe from butt to trigger guard along with typical Western Pennsylvania "S" stamping along forestock. Comes with original hardwood ramrod. CONDITION: Overall good with metal having a silvery patina with some areas of surface corrosion. Brass has nice unpolished golden patina. Wood has traces of original finish with no visible restoration or repairs. Dark bore with heavy rifling and crisp mechanics. A very nice example of Fleeger's work. DLM
