P.38 manufactured by Mauser in 1943. The left side of the slide is stamped "P.38" followed by "byf/43" and the serial number, with the right side bearing an eagle/135 waffenamt on either side of an eagle firing proof. Frame and barrel are blued, with the frame being mounted with 2-piece dark brown pressed resin grips. Slide has been refinished, exhibiting a black enamel finish. Frame and slide are matching. Barrel is a replacement, being of Spreewerke manufacture. CONDITION: Frame and barrel retain large amounts of their original rust blue finish, exhibiting some minor superficial handling marks and some areas of thinning showing through to gray patina overall. Bore is bright, exhibiting light oxidation and strong rifling throughout. Grips are very good, with the exception of the right grip panel, which exhibits a small loss at the rear. MLW
