P.08 manufactured by Mauser in 1942. Receiver bears an "(Eagle) / N" commercial nitro proof on the left side, with "1942" over the chamber, with an "(Eagle) / L" police proof on the right side. "(Eagle) / N" proofs are also present on the left side of the breechblock as well as on the front flat of the front sight block. Toggle bears the Mauser banner logo. Receiver is fitted with a Schiwy sear safety. Metal components are blued, with the frame being mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. Matching numbers are present on the frame, takedown lever, sideplate, trigger, safety lever, safety bar, barrel, receiver, trigger bar, breechblock, extractor, firing pin, toggles, as well as the magazine. Grips are unnumbered and receiver axle pin does not match. Interior of frame and grips exhibit a thick coat of old cosmoline. Pistol is accompanied by a brown leather holster stamped "ALBI SCHOLLE / 1939 / ZEITZ" above an "(Eagle) / WaA170" waffenamt, that contains a spare "fxo" magazine with a black plastic. CONDITION: Metal components retain the vast majority of their reapplied blue finish, exhibiting a few areas of silvering from operation of the action. Top of toggle ears and rear sight have been refinished in a black enamel paint and sideplate has been polished and reblued. Mirror bore, exhibiting sharp and well defined lands and grooves throughout. Grips show some light smoothing and a few minor nicks to the diamonds overall, with the left grip panel exhibiting some minor losses at the top. Holster is malleable, exhibiting moderate external wear overall, with some age related cracking and crazing on the closure flap's strap. MLW
