Manufactured 1916 as per serial number. Partly recontoured half moon front sight, U notch flat top rear sight. Right side of slide with "COLT AUTOMATIC / CALIBRE 45" in serif font, left side with 2-line 2-block patent and address information, with uncircled pony at rear. "Z" and "S" inspector proofs underneath firing pin retaining plate. Barrel with "S" and "P" proofs on left lug. Left side of frame with a small British "(Crown) / V" proof under thumb safety, "8" and Colt VP proof on left side trigger guard, with a visible "JJ" proof; the JJ proof is the proof of James Joseph Goodbody, who ran Colt's London agency between 1911 and 1913. Right side of frame with serial number. Small parts comprise checkered spurred hammer, milled undercut slide release and thumb safety, long smooth trigger, checkered magazine release, short 1911 grip safety, smooth flat mainspring housing with lanyard loop. Truncated diamond walnut grips of later manufacture. Full blue magazine with "S" on lip for Scoville. Spare magazine with commercial "COLT / 45 AUTO" on baseplate. CONDITION: Overall good, refinished with a well colored but thicker, obscuring legends. Light pitting visible throughout, under the newer blue. Handling marks and some silvering to reciprocating areas. Mechanically fine, bore is poor with heavy pitting.
