Manufactured 1914 as per serial number. Features include half moon front sight, U notch flat top rear sight. Left side of slide with 2-line 2-block patent and address information (last date August 19th, 1913), with uncircled pony at rear. Right side of slide with "MODEL OF 1911 U.S. ARMY"; serif font throughout. "H" stamped at top of firing pin retaining plate channel. Barrel with "P H" on barrel hood, oriented to read with barrel horizontally. Horizontal "J" on left side of lug, "5" in front of lug. Frame has serial number on right side just behind the slide pin hole, left side has "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" in serif font. GHS inspector proof for Stewart (interestingly, Stewart started inspecting guns at serial number 101500, making this a very early inspected gun). H and R proofs on top of frame near disconnector hole. Small parts comprise a checkered spurred hammer, checkered slide release with relief mill cut, thick tab safety with mill cut, short grip safety, checkered magazine release, long smooth trigger, smooth flat mainspring housing with lanyard loop. Truncated diamond walnut grips. Dual tone magazine with lanyard loop. CONDITION: Overall excellent, retaining the vast majority of the Colt bluing with some minor handling marks through. Slide has some light silvering to high edges and to muzzle. Right side of slide has a few scattered spots of oxidation and scratches. Frame is excellent, with some brown patina coming through the bluing. Grips are excellent. Mechanically fine, bore is good with visible rifling and oxidation, mostly towards muzzle, and worse on right side than left. EMW
