Manufactured 1943. Serrated slope front sight, square notch flat top rear sight, "P" proof in front of rear sight. "(Crown) / BNP" nitro proof just behind ejection port, barrel with British "(Crown) / BNP" nitro proof, and tonnage proofs. Slide serial number under the firing pin retaining plate matches frame. Left side of slide with 2 line 2 block patent and address information with intercepting Colt pony. Left side of frame with "G.H.D." inspector proof for Drewry, "P" proof under checkered magazine release. Right side of frame with crossed cannons cartouche, "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" marking behind slide stop hole, serial number, and British nitro proof; "M1911A1 U.S. ARMY" and Birmingham K4G private view proof. "73" on right side of trigger guard, "K" proof of left side. Keyes fibre grips. Small parts comprise spurred checkered hammer, checkered slide stop, thick tab safety, long 1911A1 grip safety, checkered magazine release, short checkered trigger, arched serrated mainspring housing with lanyard loop. Full blued magazine with "S" on lip for Scoville manufacture, and C-S on underside of lip indicative Colt subcontract to Scoville. CONDITION: Excellent, with evidence of a very light reparkerization, with proofs filled in and some very light softening visible to legends. Slide has a well defined temper line, and some scattered spots of brown coming through the parkerization. Some slight marks to slide chin. Frame is excellent, with some minor spotting and silvering to dust cover. Some very light silvering to highest edges, such as mainspring housing. Mechanically fine, bore is excellent with some very minor frosting to grooves. Magazine is very good. A great example. EMW
