Circa 1925. A scarce 12 gauge game gun with 32" blacked "Nitro Steel" barrels. Shoe lump barrels are fit with 2 - 3/4" chambers, ejectors and a wide tapering machine flat top ventilated rib. Rib with third bite lock-up extension and round front brass bead. Barrel flat marked with serial number "RE91264". Bottom of barrels marked with nitro marking as well as registration/trademarks. Top of barrels read "L.C.SMITH EAGLE GRADE" on right and "HUNTER ARMS CO INC. MFRS. HULTON. N.Y. U.S.A". Barrels also with a bit of floral scroll engraving at breech. Choked Full and Full. Case colored sidelock action with single trigger, barrel selector, engraved top lever and checkered thumb safety. Right lock is engraved with soaring duck over stippled background with surrounding scroll and "L.C. SMITH" in an old English style at bar. Left lock is engraved with flying pheasant and also with stippled (frosted) background and supported by surrounding scroll and with "L.C. SMITH" in an old English style at bar. Remaining parts of action are stippled and engraved with scroll, fences are stippled. Top lever is case colored, stippled and engraved with a standing eagle at head. Thumbpiece is checkered. Water table with guns serial number "RE91264" with "E" beneath serial number. Single mechanical trigger is fire blued and protected by a fired blued scroll engraved trigger guard extending to a 3/4 quarter length scroll engraved bottom strap. Gun is non-auto safe. "HUNTER ONE TRIGGER" is engraved just ahead of trigger guard on action bottom. Reddish-brown feather crotched stock is built with semi-pistol grip that is fully sharp checkered over grip and with black hard rubber grip cap. Stock is finished by an orange recoil pad. Checkered walnut beavertail forend with black scroll engraved roller release. CONDITION: Very good. Barrels retain 80% original black with shiny bores with some interior spotting. Action with 70% original case colors and is sound. Ejectors are strong and trigger is crisp. Stock and forearm are both very good with minor handling marks. Nice vintage American game gun! CP
