Circa 1997 as per London proof markings on right side of barrel near chamber. A truly classic caliber in big game rifles, this with a 24" blued steel stepped and tapered barrel. Barrel is fit with a serrated rear island sight with 1 standing leaf and 1 folding leaf sight, raised stippled front blade sight, loop for sling and muzzle is crowned. Barrel reads "J. Rigby & Co. London, England" in gold. Action reads "RIGBY'S SPECIAL 416 BORE FOR BIG GAME" and with serial number "6953" in gold with light floral scroll bordering on left. BRNO action with jeweled slide and extractor. Bolt hand with floral scroll engraving. Action also fit with single serrated trigger and 3-position wing safe. "S" in gold beneath wing safe. Side of action/receiver reads "J RIGBY & CO LONDON ENGLAND". Brushed steel floor plate engraved with scroll and with lion head in gold wire vignette. Engraver "B. Burgess" as signed on floor plate just ahead of blacked engraved trigger guard. Trigger guard engraved with floral scroll and "RFD 2" in gold. Deluxe walnut stock with straight and smoky marbling throughout. Rifle is fit with Holland & Holland styled quick detachable mounts and a Swarovski 1.25-4x24 Habicht scope. Stock with 2-panel sharp checkered pistol grip, shadow line cheekpiece, gold oval, sling loop and finished with a black rubber pad. Pistol grip with floral scroll engraved steel grip cap with trap door bearing the Rigby logo in gold with gold wire oval circling it. Forend with matched checkering and ebony forend tip. Rifle lives in an aluminum travel case. CONDITION: Excellent with superficial handling marks. Barrel retains 98 percent original blue. Rifling is strong. Action and trigger are smooth. Bolt handle shroud, sling loops and mounts with some discoloration. Stock and forend with minor handling marks. Case good with handling marks. Nice big bore rifle. CP.
