Roth-Sauer Model 1905 designed by Karel Krnka, financially backed by George Roth, and manufactured by J.P. Sauer & Son. The receiver bears "J.P. SAUER & SOHN, SUHL" over the barrel and "PATENT / ROTH" over the chamber, with J.P. Sauer & Sohn's logo present behind the rear sight/feed lips. The left side of the receiver bears a double "(Crown) / U" commercial proof, which is also present on the left side of the barrel extension. Major metal components exhibit a high polish blue finish, with the barrel, trigger, and bolt assembly being in-the-white. Frame is mounted with 2-piece Sauer & Sohn logo checkered hard rubber grips. All internal and external numbers are matching and include the frame (on the butt), interior of the frame, barrel & barrel extension, barrel nuts, bolt assembly, magazine housing, recoil spring screw, recoil spring arm, trigger assembly, bolt catch lever, internal magazine housing, as well as the follower. Grips are matching via a hand-scribed number on the interior of the panels. CONDITION: Metal components retain the majority of their lustrous blue finish, exhibiting high edge wear with some scattered spots of wear and thinning, as well as some light surface oxidation overall. Trigger has turned a gray patina, with the barrel and bolt assembly showing areas of age related discoloration. Bright bore, exhibiting light inactive oxidation and well defined lands and grooves throughout. Grips show some light smoothing and retain well defined Sauer & Sohn logos. Right grip panel bears an internal crack that runs the width of the grip and is nearly indiscernible on the exterior. A very attractive example of a rare Roth-Sauer Model 1905 semi-automatic pistol.
