Nicely matted display ready for framing, consisting of strands of hair from Washington and Lincoln mounted in small magnifying cases, double-matted with portraits of each man and a title card. With COA on reverse from The Historical Shop of Metairie, Louisiana, dated 2016, indicating this is number 14 of 15 produced from a Lincoln lock of hair descended from Caroline Wright, collector and wife of the Governor of Indiana, who received it a token of friendship during Lincoln’s second inauguration in 1865, and from a lock of Washington’s hair passed down in the family of Washington’s nephew George Steptoe Washington and released by his great-granddaughter, Martha Washington of Philadelphia in 1924. CONDITION: Excellent, with tight provenance and chain of ownership.
