Third Reich early SS dagger with a "GOTTLIEB HAMMESFAHR, SOLINGEN - FOCHE" marked blade with moderate runner and scattered marks, with light freckling, and a 1/2" area of moderate freckling. Blade tip is damaged and appears to have been lightly ground and heavily polished. Nickle-plated fittings have moderate scattered marks, and the cross guard is loose. The SS Group mark of "II" (Dresden) is present on the cross guard above the maker marking. Wood grip has light wear with a light crack above the SS emblem, and a 1" light crack on the reverse top. SS eagle and runes are original to the grip with patina. Black anodized steel scabbard retains 60-65% of its finish with scattered marks and light freckling throughout. There are two 1" areas which appear to have been cleaned. Nickeled fittings have scattered marks throughout, and the lower fitting has a number of tiny digs. A hangar is attached with heavy wear to the leather. CONDITION: Overall good to very good. WEZ
