This stunning theater made fighting knife was manufactured in Australia during World War II for US service members in the Pacific Theater of Operations. The knife has a cast brass grip which is formed into a D guard that resembles a cogwheel design. During the War, these fighting knives were manufactured in a small and a large variant. This knife is the small variant, with the bowie style blade that measures approximately 9 - 1/2". The knife is contained within a theater made leather sheath with a canvas belt loop that is attached with 4 small nails. CONDITION: The blade exhibits pitting and areas of surface rust throughout its length. The guard exhibits a mustard patina with areas of spotting and 1/2" hole on the right side. The leather scabbard is stiff, exhibiting flaking and cracking. The stitching on the center seam has come loose in some areas. This is a very attractive World War II fighting knife. Overall good. JLD
