Measures 25 - 3/4" from tip of kissaki to munemachi. Traditional shinogi zukuri form, measuring approximately 1 - 1/4" at the motohaba and approximately 1/4" across the kasane. Iori mune. Typical oil quenched gunome hamon, no visible hada. Brass habaki. Nakago with single drilled hole, yasurime is a mixture throughout. Army tsuba with florals at corners with floral patterned fuchi, kashira and sarute on beaded grounds. Traditionally woven tsuka-ito, over a rayskin covering and chrysanthemum menuki. Saya appears to be a period replacement made of a black painted wood scabbard with a single crude suspension ring and a paper label with remnants of Japanese characters. CONDITION: Overall good. Blade has a clear hamon with marks from handling and storage through, but no chips along cutting edge, some spots of oxidation and what looks like water spotting. Mounts are good, habaki is cracked on right side along ha, mounts are later lower quality mount, but pleasing. Same has shrunk and wooden base is visible. Tsuka is tight. Saya fits blade but rough on exterior, with extensive lifting and craquelure. A nice example. EMW
