Army Special double action revolver manufactured by Colt. Top of the barrel bears Colt's 2-line address, with "COLT ARMY / SPECIAL 38" on the left. Left side of the frame bears the Rampant Colt logo as well as a "VP" proof, with the right side of the frame being engraved "Capt. Frank L. Barrows / FROM / THE MEMBERS OF HIS COMPANY (E) / F.L.I.R. / May 11, 1918.". Features include a blued finish, 6" barrel chambered for the .38 Special cartridge, half-moon front sight, frame notched rear sight, as well as 2-piece "COLT" embossed checkered hard rubber grips. Interior of grip panels match the frame via a hand-scribed serial number, with an additional "B." inscribed on either panel. This example is accompanied by a Colt factory letter indicating that this revolver was sent in a shipment of 4 to Andrew Harris of Providence, RI on November 19th, 1917. CONDITION: Excellent, with metal components retaining bountiful amounts of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting areas of thinning on the grip straps that show through to a pleasant brown patina, as well as a small area of cleaned oxidation present on the top strap. Cylinder bears a mild dragline. Mirror bore, exhibiting well defined rifling throughout. Grips are very good, exhibiting a few scattered marks from handling and storage overall.
