World War II 1st pattern OSS drop knife complete with metal scabbard and leather frog. The OSS Drop knives were manufactured in 2 patterns. The 1st Pattern was made from surplus M-1873 Trapdoor rifle bayonets and their cut-down metal scabbards, while the 2nd Pattern used surplus M1913 Patton saber blades. The knife features a blued bayonet blade with a fluted rubber handle and metal D-guard, as well as a small pointed skull crusher. CONDITION: The blade retains some of its original blued finish with scattered areas of pitting. The guard exhibits typical wear and produces a wobble when handled. The cut-down metal scabbard exhibits scattered scratches and areas of pitting which are more evident on the reverse. Leather frog remains supple with areas of creasing. Tight stitching. Overall good.
