Nice example of a World War II era ship's light. The light is marked across the top of the rim "CROUSE HINDS CO." and "SYRACUSE N.Y. U.S.A." across the bottom. The light is also marked "HL-P 1945" across the bottom. The original specification label remains riveted to the top behind the rim. There are several parts included with this fixture, including the base, glass lens, and some brackets. The light appears to be incomplete as there is nothing to secure it to the base. A replacement part can most likely be fabricated. The light and the accompanying parts are painted in classic navy gray. These lights were commonly used by both military and merchant "liberty" ships in both theaters throughout the war. Although it requires some assembly, this is a very nice example of nautical equipment and would compliment a naval collection. CONDITION: The function of the light has not been determined as it has not been tested. The light retains most of its original paint. There are scattered blemishes and imperfections including chips in the paint and wear to the metal. Overall good. JLD
