Interesting Revolutionary War/War of 1812 period side by side flintlock shotgun with locks marked "BLAIR AND SUTHERLAND". Blair and Sutherland are listed in several publications as being in Birmingham, England circa 1790. There is also a Blair and Sutherland listed in Boulton, Pennsylvania around 1810. This gun could be an American made gun or British or a gun made in America using bought locks. The gun does not have any proofs indicating either area. 32" twist steel 16 gauge barrels with smooth concave rib, bead front sight, hook breech, and gold bands at breeches. Flint locks marked "BLAIR AND SUNDERLAND" with unique short front trigger. Checkered walnut stock with cheekpiece and engraved iron furniture. Comes with hardwood brass tipped ramrod. CONDITION: 90% original brown twist finish with locks fading to a silvery patina. Wood has been sanded and refinished with iron furniture being cleaned. Shootable bores with functioning mechanics.
