1904 vintage Colt Single Action Army revolver, serial number 259803. 4 - 3/4" round barrel chambered in .45 Colt with blade front sight, 2 line barrel address, and frame notch rear. Left side of barrel is marked ".45 COLT". 2 piece checkered early style gutta percha grips featuring a Rampant Colt and a US Eagle on either side. Matching serial numbers observed on frame, trigger guard, and butt. Marked on right side of frame "W.F. & CO EX.". This marking is consistent with other known examples identified as being owned by Wells Fargo & Company. Complete with factory letter confirming configuration as well as shipment to J.F. Schmelzer & Sons Arms Company in Kansas City, Missouri on October 31, 1904. CONDITION: Excellent, with most of the original bluing remaining on barrel and ejector rod housing with holster and handling wear throughout. Front sight has been filed and reshaped. Frame has strong remnants of original case colors. Grips are sun faded and well-worn but strong with no major signs of distress. Mechanically fine. Bore is lightly frosted with crisp rifling. TON
