Classic configuration with 32 - 5/8" round barrel chambered for .45-70 and proofed at breech "V / P / (Eagle Head)". Blade front sight and Buffington rear. Case hardened beech block marked "US / MODEL / 1884". Lock plate marked "U.S. / SPRINGFIELD" with federal eagle ahead of the cock. Fit with a full length walnut military style stock mounted with iron nose cap, 2 "U" marked barrel bands, 2-piece trigger guard, and "US" marked butt plate. CONDITION: Fine. Majority of finish has drifted to a pleasing brown patina. Significant portions of the darkened case colors are visible on the breech block. Stock has some impressions and appears to have been lightly cleaned. Dark bore with some pitting and still strong rifling. Mechanically fine. BAS
