Smith & Wesson No. 3 single action revolver. Made circa late 1890s. Single line company address on the barrel rib, between 2 Maltese crosses. ".44 S&W. CTG" marked on the left side of the barrel. Trade mark found on the right side of the frame. Matching serials on the butt, cylinder, and barrel latch. Round barrel with full rib. Half moon front sight with U-notch rear. Factory blued finish on the metal components. Case colored smooth face trigger and spurred hammer. Oiled wood grips with fine checkering on both panels. CONDITION: Metal retains 60% of its original finish with splotches of brown patina forming on the frame, barrel and cylinder. Grips have a few minor handling marks. Fine bore with strong rifling retained. Tight hammer and cylinder. Mechanically fine. JWA
