After the publication of his book "From a Stranger's Doorstep to the Kremlin Gates: A Word from the AK Man" in 1997, the legendary small arms designer and creator of the AK-47, Mikhail Kalashnikov, traveled to the United States and was invited by the Northern Virginia Gun Club for dinner. Afterwards, a member of the club, Sam K. Lee and his wife Jennifer Curlee, invited Mikhail and his grandson, Igor, to their house. During that visit, Mikail signed Mr. Lee's copy of the aforementioned book and a Chinese style AK wooden buttstock. This lot includes those very items along with 5 color pictures and provenance. (A) Type 3 second variation Chinese pattern laminated wooden buttstock, likely made by Norinco, with blued steel buttplate, spring loaded cleaning kit gate, and sling swivel. Signature of Mikail Kalashnikov on right side of stock in silver marker. CONDITION: Excellent overall condition. Slight smudge on the "M" of the signature. Residue in line pattern on left side of stock. (B) "From a Stranger's Doorstep to the Kremlin Gates: A Word from the AK Man" written by Mikail Kalashnikov. First page has signatures by Mikail Kalishnakov in black ink and Igor Krasnovsky in red ink with a red stamp in-between them picturing an AK pattern rifle with Russian lettering on a banner. Along with the book are 5 color photographs featuring moments described above. CONDITION: Excellent overall condition. Slight handling wear on dust cover. All pages intact. Enclosed with this lot is a notarized letter of provenance from the wife of Mr. Lee. GFP
