US M1812 Type I flintlock musket manufactured by Springfield and dated 1815. 42" round barrel in .69 caliber smoothbore with no provision for rear sight and integral brass blade front sight on Charleville style front barrel band. 1 piece plain walnut stock in 3 barrel band musket configuration with military buttplate and 1812 pattern cheek recess. Lock is marked "US / (Eagle) / SPRINGFIELD" ahead of cock and is dated 1815 behind cock. Top of buttplate is dated 1815. Left of barrel is marked "US" near breech with "P" / "(Eagle's head) / "V" on left side. Stock bears faint "US" proofmark on left stock flat opposite lock. CONDITION: Very good, as polished back to National Armory Bright with markings visible on iron components and freckling throughout. Stock is very good as cleaned with small repair at left of tang and small crack at trigger guard. Mechanically fine. Bore is dark. TON
