Model 1878 Frontier double action revolver manufactured by Colt in 1882. Top of barrel bears Colt's 2-line address with "44.C.F." on the left side of the trigger guard bow. Features include a 5 - 1/2" barrel, blade front sight, frame notched rear sight, as well as 2-piece Colt checkered hard rubber grips. Metal components have been refinished at one point in time, exhibiting a old nickel finish overall. Matching numbers are present on the frame as well on the rear of the cylinder. Interior of grips are matching via a light hand-written serial number on both of the panels. CONDITION: Very good, with metal components retaining the vast majority of their reapplied nickel finish, exhibiting some spots of light oxidation overall. Colt address over barrel is faint, with some characters being partially illegible. Etched panel on left side of barrel is no longer present. Bright bore, exhibiting some spots of mild pitting, but otherwise retaining well defined rifling throughout. Checkered hard rubber grips are very good, exhibiting some light smoothing, a few minor superficial handling marks, as well as a few minor nicks to the diamonds overall. A very attractively restored Colt Model 1878. MLW
