Rare Colt Burgess lever action rifle made by Colt Firearms, Hartford, Connecticut from 1883 to 1885 and is 1 of 6403 made and 1 of 3810 rifles made. 25" blued octagon .44-40 caliber rifled barrel with full magazine, silver blade front sight, and rear notched adjustable sight, with Colt markings in front of rear sight. Blued frame with Rampant Colt on left side with case hardened lever and hammer. Walnut plain stock with steel crescent buttplate with trap containing a Winchester 1873 style 4 piece cleaning rod and a matching walnut plain forearm. CONDITION: 85% fading original barrel blue with corners wearing to a silvery patina. Action has worn to a silvery patina with some blue remaining in corners with lever and hammer fading to a silvery patina. Wood has traces of original varnish with some cracks following the grain and an old wrist repair of 2 screws. Forearm has traces of varnish with dings and usage marks with small crack on right side. Good shootable bore with good mechanics. Gun is in above average condition for one of these on the whole. DLM
