Western Great Lakes or Eastern Plains Indian gun stock war club, circa 1860. Classic gun stock club with half-triangular base pierced for attachment of a wrist cord or adornment with carved grooves on one side. Recessed grip area and shaft of expanding rectangular section, decorated along one side with deeply patinated circular brass tack medallions, accented by tacked vertical lines. Other side has a cross design in brass tacks along with tacked vertical lines. An exaggerated, large dag style notched steel blade is set into the crook. Blade extends 7 - 1/4" out. CONDITION: Wood shows age commensurate wear and scratches. Blade shows heavy patina along with the tacks.
