Shinogi zukuri form blade measuring 17 - 7/8" from kissaki to munemachi. Iori mune. Ko-kissaki. Nakagojiri is heavily rounded. Blade is o-o-suriage with one mekugi-ana filled with a copper insert, and two visible, almost overlaid. Kiku Gata tsuba with distinct ridged edges and pierced through with designs of two mythical beasts. Silver foil copper catscratch habaki. Kozuka with copper handle and decorated with a heavily softened design. Inetersting saya is textured and devoid of a koiguchi with a simple kojiri. Fuchi and menuki depict a fearsome dragon, while kashira depicts a bird; kashira probably mismatched. CONDITION: Blade has been polished, with no visible hamon remaining and some softness to shinogi-ji; however, outside of a few pockmarks, there are no major issues. Tsuba design a little softened but pleasing in combination with saya. Tsuka ito is tight, and rayskin is free of damage. Saya has a few handling marks, with 2 stable cracks visible on either edge. EMW
