Model 1901 double action revolver manufactured by Colt under contract for the United States Army. The left side of the barrel is stamped "COLT. D.A. 38" with Colt's 2-line address and patent information across the top. Left side of the frame bears "J.T.T.", "R.A.C.", and what appears to be an "L.E.F." U.S. inspector stamp markings. "R.A.C." inspector stamp is also present on the rear face of the cylinder. Bottom of butt is stamped "U.S. / ARMY / MODEL / 1901 / No / 177 / 067". Metal components are blued, with the frame being mounted with 2-piece smooth wood grips. Matching assembly numbers are present on the frame, cylinder, crane, as well as on the cylinder release latch. CONDITION: Metal components retain good amounts of their possibly arsenal reapplied blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear, as well as some scattered spots of surface oxidation overall. Bright bore, exhibiting light inactive oxidation and well defined rifling throughout. Grips show some scattered marks from handling and storage, but are otherwise study and serviceable. MLW
