Manufactured in 1858. Features include 4" .31 caliber octagon barrel, 2-line New York address, pin front sight, hammer notch rear sight, 5-shot percussion cylinder with stagecoach holdup scene, silver plated grip straps, and smooth 1-piece walnut grips. Housed in a contemporary wood case with a unmarked powder flask, blued steel 2 cavity "COLTS/PATENT" "31 PKT" mold for conical and round balls, and an Eley Bros cap tin with caps. CONDITION: Very good. Steel components have turned a pleasing gray patina with a few traces of original finish. Markings still sharp, including cylinder scene. Vast majority of the plating is retained on grip straps, wearing through to brass along high edges. Grips retain the majority of their original finish with some spots of loss and impressions. Shootable bore and fine mechanics. Matching full or partial serial numbers observed on numbered components. Case is fair with lid detached. Other accessories are good to very good showing some age.
