Standard configuration P.38 manufactured at the Mauser arsenal in 1943. The left side of the slide is stamped "P.38" followed by "byf/43" and the serial number. Right side exhibits 2 "(Eagle) / 135" waffenamts surround an eagle firing proof. Magazine spine bears a Mauser "(Eagle) / 135" waffenamt. Metal components are blued, with the frame being mounted with 2-piece black serrated pressed resin grips. Matching numbers are present on the frame, slide, barrel, and locking block. Pistol is accompanied by a black cowhide leather holster stamped "ccw" followed by an "(Eagle) / WaA392" waffenamt, as well as "1943", indicating manufacture by Carl Weiss. Holster contains a spare Walther "(Eagle) / 359" marked magazine. CONDITION: Very good, with metal components retaining large amounts of their original arsenal applied blue finish, exhibiting areas of high edge wear showing through to silvering, as well as areas of wear on the grip straps, trigger guard, and barrel that show through to gray patina. Bore is bright, exhibiting mild inactive oxidation and well defined rifling throughout. Grips exhibit some handling marks and wear, but are otherwise fine. Holster shows some marks from handling and storage, with areas of crazing present on the flaps. MLW
