Lot consist of: (A) J. Stevens Gem pocket pistol. Made circa 1872-1890, with about 4,000 being made overall. This is Stevens only pistol not to have a tip up barrel. Matching serials on the frame, being hand written on the inside of the grip panels. Half round, half octagon barrels with blade front sight. Barrel is blued, with the frame being nickel finished. Hammer and trigger are case colored. Varnished rose wood grips. CONDITION: Metal components retain 70% of its original finish, with the barrel forming a gray patina. Grips have a few handling marks. Bore is frosted, with a few minor pits. Tight hammer, being mechanically fine. (B) J. Stevens Clipper single shot blank pistol. Made circa 1870's, and similar in design to the Hopkins & Allen Bonnie Blue. Serial number on the underside of the frame, in the trigger guard. Round smoothbore barrel. Blued finish with oiled walnut grips. Only three of these are known. CONDIITON: Metal retains little of its original finish with most areas forming a heavy brown patina. Grips have a few handling marks and scratches. Bore is frosted. Hammer is tight being mechanically fine. JWA
