Lot consists of: (A) Hopkins & Allen Xpert single shot derringer. Made circa 1880s. Barrel is marked "XPERT-PAT.SEP.23.1878". Serial numbers on the barrel, breech block, and inside of the frame. Round barrel with blade front sight. Period style engraved frame. Nickeled finish, with the trigger and hammer being period fire blued. Rosewood grips with period reapplied varnished finish. CONDITION: Metal retains 85% of its finishes, with slight wear and scratches. Bore is heavily frosted with good overall rifling. Hammer is tight, being mechanically fine. (B) Hopkins & Allen XL Vest Pocket single shot derringer. Made circa 1880s. Barrel is marked "XL VEST POCKET". Matching serials on the trigger, frame and barrel assembly. 2-step barrel with no sights. Full nickel finish. Varnished rosewood grips. CONDITION: Metal retains 70% of its finish with wear and scratches. Grips have a few scratches. Bore is heavily frosted with fair rifling. Tight hammer, being mechanically fine. JWA
