Made circa late 1870s before the company was sold to Colt. Barrel is marked "NATIONAL ARMS Co BROOKLYN. N.Y.". Matching on the bottom of the barrel, interior of the frame, and on the inside of the grip panels. Triangular barrel, twisting sideways to load. Brass frame with the balance of parts being blued. Factory scroll engraving. Birds head grip with varnished walnut grips. Grips were checkered at some point. CONDITION: Metal retains 50% of its original finish with the barrel turning an even gray patina. Brass is slightly tarnished, with no signs of cleaning. The frame is cracked around the barrel latch. Both grips are cracked on the interior, with minor exterior handling marks. Bore is frosted, with minor pitting, and good overall rifling. Hammer is tight, being mechanically fine. JWA
