Made circa early 1870s, and sometimes called the "Baby Allen". Barrel is marked "E.ALLEN & CO. MAKERS" on the octagon portion. Matching serials on the barrel and inside of the frame. Half round, half octagon barrel with no sights. Fine scroll engraving on the barrel and frame, possibly factory. Barrel, hammer, and trigger are blued, with the frame being polished brass. Period ivory grips. CONDITION: Metal retains some of its original finish with the barrel forming a mostly brown patina. Brass has a light tarnish, with little signs of cleaning. Right grip panel has a surface crack, otherwise having minor handling marks. Bore is frosted, with some pitting. Little rifling retained. Tight hammer. Trigger spring seems weak. JWA
