Made circa early 1870s, and sometimes called the "Baby Allen". This is an early production gun, being slightly larger than subsequent production. Barrel is unmarked. Matching serials on the barrel, inside of the frame, and on the interior of the grips. Half round, half octagon barrel with no sights. Barrel, hammer, and trigger are blued, with the frame being brass. Original varnished walnut grips on a birdshead butt. CONDITION: Metal retains 60% of its finish with the barrel forming a gray patina. Brass is lightly tarnished with no signs of cleaning. Grips have a few minor handling marks and scratches. Bore is heavily frosted with some pitting. Tight hammer, being mechanically fine. JWA
