Made late 1860s. Left side of the frame is marked "WM.W.MARSTON / PATENTED / MAY 26, 1857 / NEW YORK CITY / IMPROVED 1864". Matching serials on the barrel assembly, frame, and on the inside of both grip panels. Iron barrels, with blade front sight and v-notch rear cut into the barrel latch. Barrel selector on the right side of the frame. Frame is brass, with the balance of the parts being blued. Varnished rosewood grips. CONDIITON: Metal retains little of its original finish with the blued components forming a heavy brown patina. Frame has some tarnish, with light signs of cleaning. Grips have scratches and handling marks. Bores are frosted and pitted, with good overall rifling. Barrels and hammer are tight. Selector is turning. JWA
