Made circa mid-1860s. Top of the barrel is marked "MORGAN & CLAPP / NEW HAVEN.CT". Serial number "8" stamped on the right side of the frame and on the inside of each grip panel. Iron, octagonal barrel with brass front sight blade. Brass frame (once silver plated), with factory scroll engraving. Varnished rosewood grips on a square butt frame. CONDITION: Metal retains little of its original finish with the barrel turning an even gray patina. Frame has light polishing. Grips have interior cracks. Outsides are excellent. Smooth bore with heavy frosting. Tight hammer, being mechanically fine. JWA
