Lot consist of: (A) Otis A. Smith single shot derringer. Made circa 1870s, with few known examples surviving. Unmarked, in addition to no serial number (antique). 2 part barrel with no sights. Nickel plated iron barrel and brass frame. Varnished walnut grips, on a birdshead grip. CONDITION: Metal retains 70% of its period nickel finish, with scratches, handling marks, and edge wear. Grips have scratches and handling marks. Bore is heavily frosted with minor pitting. Barrel moves heavily, not latching correctly. Mechanically operable. (B) Otis A. Smith single shot derringer. Made circa 1870s, with few known examples surviving. Unmarked, in addition to no serial number (antique). 2 part barrel with no sights. All brass gun, with the hammer and trigger being blued. Oil finished wood grips. CONDITION: Metal has an overall tarnished appearance, with little signs of clean up. Grips have handling marks and scratches. Smooth bore is heavily frosted. Barrel does not latch. Hammer does not stay back. Mechanically inoperable. JWA
