Model 300 manufactured by Astra under contract for the German military in 1942. Left side of slide and frame bears Spanish proofs on either side of an Astra date code stamp "N" (1942), with the right side bearing a German "(Eagle) /WaA251" waffenamt. Top of slide bears the Astra logo towards the muzzle with "UNECTA Y COMPANIA/ GUERNICA ESPANA" towards the rear sight. Metal components are blued, with the frame being mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. Matching numbers are present on the frame and slide. Pistol is accompanied by a original unmarked leather sling containing 1 additional magazine. CONDITION: Metal components retain the vast majority of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting a few scattered marks from handling and storage, as well as some mild wear and thinning on the grip straps from handling. Very bright bore, exhibiting some spots of light inactive oxidation and retaining well defined rifling throughout. Grips show some minor smoothing, but are otherwise fine. Holster is very good, being still malleable and exhibiting some mild exterior wear from handling and storage. A very nice example of a German World War II issued Astra Model 300. PROVENANCE: Roger Bender Collection. MLW
