Type 14 Nambu manufactured at the Kokubunji arsenal under Nagoya supervision in September of 1939. Left side of frame bears Kanji characters denoting the model designation, with the right side bearing the Nagoya and Kokubunji arsenal symbols above the date code "14.9". Major metal components are blued, with some smaller components being strawed. Frame is mounted with 2-piece serrated wood grips. All numbers are matching with the exception of the magazine, which is mismatched, with the right grip panel, firing pin, and firing pin extension being unnumbered. Pistol is accompanied by an original leather clamshell holster with a spring loaded closure strap. Interior of holster lid bears arsenal stampings with "Charles W. Keegan / 1385 So. Fillmore St / Den.10, Colo." handwritten in black ink below. CONDITION: Metal components retain large amounts of their arsenal blue finish, exhibiting areas of thinning and wear overall that show through to patina. Strawed components exhibit wear overall and show some spots of age related discoloration. Internal components retain a layer of old cosmoline. Chrome lined bore retains a thick layer of cosmoline and rifling cannot be verified. Grips show scattered marks from handling and storage, but are otherwise fine. Left grip panel bears a small loss at the lower left corner. Holster is very good, exhibiting some scattered marks from handling and storage overall, with a couple of spots of light crazing. PROVENANCE: Roger Bender Collection. MLW
