1856 dated Springfield Model 1855 percussion single shot pistol carbine. 12" round barrel in .58 caliber rifled with multi-leaf flip up rear sight with blade front. Barrel is dated 1856 near breech with VP eagle's head proof on left side near wood line. 1 piece walnut stock with brass mountings. Stock bears an added "HA" cartouche on left stock flat opposite lock. Bottom of grip is numbered "6". CONDITION: Very good, with iron assemblies lightly cleaned to a speckled gray patina with markings sharp. Heavy handling marks on barrel date near breech making it difficult to read. Brass assemblies are a pleasing mellow patina. Stock is good as sanded with finish added and cracks on both sides of grip. Mechanically fine. Bore is dark with well-defined 3 groove rifling.
