Made 1853. 2 line New York City address on the top of the barrel. "COLTS / PATENT" marked on the left side of the frame. Matching serials on the barrel assembly, frame, trigger guard, butt, and cylinder. Octagonal barrel with brass pin front sight. Cylinder and barrel are blued, with the loading lever, frame, hammer and trigger being case colored. Brass plated trigger guard/grip straps. Varnished walnut grip. CONDITION: Metal retains 50% of its original finishes, with heavy wear to the grip straps. Case coloring and bluing are forming a gray patina. Grip straps have a few light handling marks. Bore is frosted with minor pitting. Tight hammer and cylinder. Nipples are well formed, with minimal dry firing. Mechanically fine. PROVENANCE: Roger Bender Collection. JWA
