US World War II M1 Aiming Circle contained in its M6A1 case. Aiming circles are instruments which are used to measure horizontal and vertical angles, as well as magnetic azimuths in determining gunnery data. These devices played a crucial role in helping army artillery units strike their targets with accuracy. This example retains most of its original green paint with clear markings that read "CIRCLE, AIMING, M1 / NO 1852 F.M. / 1941". It remains mounted to an M5 Tripod which also retains most of its original paint. The optic remains clear. The M6A1 case remains sturdy with clear markings. CONDITION: M1 Aiming Circle, tripod, and case exhibit handling wear. The case exhibits the most wear with scattered scuffs and blemishes, but no major dents. Overall very good. JLD
