1858 vintage Colt 3rd Model Dragoon single action percussion revolver, serial number 16584. 7 - 1/2" barrel in .44 caliber with correct rounded profile German silver blade front sight, folding leaf rear sight graduated to 100, 200, and 300 yards, and hammer notch rear sight. Matching serial numbers observed on rammer, wedge, barrel, cylinder arbor, cylinder, frame, trigger guard, butt, and inside of grips in script. Martial markings include "U.S." on left side of frame, "G" on left trigger guard rear, and "L" on left trigger guard front. Complete with a period Colt 3rd model stock with iron mountings. Stock is serial numbered 16781 and 16782 on bottom near attachment lug and on top of buttplate tang. Stock bears faint cartouches on left and right sides. 1 piece plain walnut grips on correct steel backstrap. CONDITION: Very good for its age, with virtually all of the original finishes turned a mottled gray brown patina throughout with scattered handling and storage marks. Cylinder scene is partially visible near serial number. Trigger guard retains a pleasant mellow patina. Grips are good as sanded and refinished. Right grip panel has been marked with a "C". Stock is very good as cleaned with scattered heavy handling marks and mounts correctly. Mechanically fine. Bore is very good with moderate abrasion and crisp rifling.
