Springfield Model 1870 Navy single shot rolling block rifle with 32 - 5/8" round barrel chambered in .50-70 Government with blade front sight, and military ladder rear sight. Barrel is marked with Naval anchor near breech and "P / H B R" on left side above wood line. 2 piece walnut stock and forearm with iron nosecap, 3 barrel bands, and US marked military buttplate. Stock bears faint outline of a cartouche on left side near wrist, and "LF / 21" rack number near buttplate. CONDITION: Very good, with a majority of the original bluing remaining on barrel with minor storage marks throughout. Action has turned a gunmetal gray patina with markings crisp. Stock and forearm are very good with no visible cracks and handling marks throughout. Mechanically fine. Bore is bright with minor carbon from use and crisp rifling.
