Made 1887 (per the Winchester collectors website). Company address and patent dates marked in front of the rear sight. "MODEL 1873" marked on the tang. Full octagon barrel with blade front sight and buckhorn u-notch rear. Original blued finish on the metal components. Wood has lightly sanded and oiled at some point. Crescent metal butt plate. CONDITION: Metal retains 50% of its original finish, with areas of brown patina forming. Wood has minor handling marks and scratches. Bore is frosted with very good overall rifling. Mechanically operable, but the hammer will not stay cocked when the action is cycled. PROVENANCE: Roger Bender Collection. JWA
